This park was the third of four major theme parks Disney opened in the Orlando, Florida area. The Disney-MGM Studios opened its doors to the public on May 1, 1989. Disney had a licensing agreement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and the park had a variety of references to MGM movies, but this agreement ended and the park's named changed to Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2008. This 135-acre theme park used to include a fully functional studio that produced movies, animated movies and shows, live-action TV series, and radio broadcasts, but that production has ended as the park now focuses on rides and shows for guests. Even the "studio-like" attractions and backlot tours all disappeared in the 2010s. Hollywood Studios has recently expanded with the addition of Toy Story Land in 2018 and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in 2019.
