A decade after the nearby Disneyland Paris debuted, Walt Disney Studios Park, or Parc Walt Disney Studios in French, opened in March 2002. Like Florida's Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly Disney's MGM Studios, this park was first set up like a Hollywood studio backlot focused on movie and television show production. But in recent times, it has shifted its focus to promoting existing Disney properties such as Pixar and Marvel. Plans were made to expand the park with the addition of the Kingdom of Arendelle from the Frozen movies and a land devoted to Star Wars, possibly like Galaxy's Edge at the two American Disney parks, but the COVID-19 pandemic and other issues have postponed the park's expansion, and these new areas may never be built.
