Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain
Tom Spackman Sr., owner of Indiana Beach, designed a dark ride called Superstition Mountain. It opened during the 1978 season. The ride took place inside a mountain made out of blown cement. It had mine cars that ran on a 60-volt electrical track. While in the mountain, they passed scenes of wild animals, falling barrels, waterfalls, and even a simulated earthquake. While the ride was popular with guests, it suffered from limited capacity problems and frequent maintenance difficulties. So a few years ago, Tom Spackman Jr. began to consider ways of renovating Superstition Mountain.
