This junior coaster is named after The Octonauts, a British kids' TV show based on children's books written by Michael Murphy and Vicki Wong and published in 2006. In the United Kingdom, the series aired on CBeebies, a BBC channel for young children. In the United States, the show has played on the Disney Channel, but some of the voices were redone with American accents. Captain Barnacles, a polar bear, sits in the lead car.
