York's Wild Kingdom

York Beach, Maine

This zoo and amusement park got started in 1950 as the Funland Park. In 1955, the name was changed to the York Beach Animal Forest and Amusement Park. The name is now simply York's Wild Kindgom, but it is still a combination of a small zoo and a small amusement park. Besides a handful of small amusement park rides and a variety of animals, the zoo is home to the 5,500 square foot Butterfly Kingdom exhibit.

Three coasters have left York's Wild Kingdom:

Coaster was an Overland Amusement Company kiddie coaster that operated here in the 1960s and 1970s.
Flitzer was a Zierer Flitzer model that was here from 1991 to 1998.
Wild Mouse was a Schiff Wild Mouse model that was here for a few years in the early 1960s.
