Freizeit-Land Geiselwind

Geiselwind, Bavaria, Germany

    Geiselwind, or "Whip Wind" in English, is a small market town in Lower Franconia in Southern Germany.  Freizeit-Land means "Liesure-Land" in English, but the park opened in 1969 as Vogel-Pony-Märchen-Park, or "Bird-Pony-Fairy Tale-Park."  Ernst Mensinger first opened the park because he wanted to share his rare and exotic birds.  While Freizeit-Land Geiselwind still has a variety of birds and animals today, rides appeared first in 1989.  The collection of thrill rides and coasters seems to vary constantly as rides are added and removed nearly every year.  Cobra, an Interpark Wild Wind model, is expected to open in 2015.
