In the 1960s, Roger Tofte began building a park located on 20 acres of a hillside south of Salem, OR. After working on it for seven years, he opened the park to the public in 1971. Much of the park was constructed personally by the Tofte family including the unique Fantasy Fountains musical light and water show. Roger's son Kev designed and built the park's animatronic figures. Roger's daughter Susan Vaslev wrote the musical plays that are performed at Enchanted Forest. Roger did most of the park's sculptures and paintings. Roger recently celebrated his 85th birthday and still enjoys adding to Enchanted Forest. The Tofte family continues to operate the park to this day.
