This location 20 kilometers south of Oslo was home to a zoo from 1950 to 1985. The present amusement park opened in 1988. TusenFryd, which is often written as Tusenfryd, translates to "Thousand Joys" in English. Sitting on 115 acres of land, it is the largest amusement park in Norway. The park was acquired in 2008 by the Spanish Parques Reunidos group.
Their latest coaster, Western-Expressen, is a Vekoma Junior Coaster and opened in April 2012.
