Gilroy Gardens
Gilroy, California

Situated about an hour and a half's drive south of San Francisco, Gilroy Gardens is home to 24 "circus trees" created by Axel Erlandson.  These trees were pruned and grafted into amazing shapes and designs that still baffle experts today.  Created in the 1940s through the 1960s, the trees were purchased by Michael Bonfante in 1985.

Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park opened in 2001.  Paramount Parks, Inc. was hired two years later to manage the property.  The name was changed to Gilroy Gardens in 2007 after Cedar Fair took over management responsibilities.  The park is a non-profit organization designed to educate guests and foster a greater appreciation of horticulture.
