Tornado
You can see much of Tornado's track was replaced. The older wood was
painted white, but the new wood is uncovered. Decades ago, most wood was untreated, so
painting the boards was a way to preserve them. These days, nearly all lumber used
on wood coasters is treated wood, so painting is not necessary. I have seen several
wood coasters slowly transition to natural wood colors as boards are replaced and not repainted. It
will be interesting to see if Tornado's new pieces get painted or stay their natural wood color.
