O.D. Hopkins was born in 1926 and started Hopkins Engineering back in 1962.  The firm was changed to O.D. Hopkins Associates Inc. in 1971.  The company started by building ski lifts and sky rides, but that segment of their business was sold off in 1986.  The company went bankrupt in 2001 but emerged from bankruptcy as Hopkins Rides, LLC in the next year.  Mr. Hopkins died in 2010 at the age of 83.  WhiteWater West, a large manufacturer of water slides and water rides, purchased Hopkins Rides, LLC in 2011.
