Outlaw
Mike Boodley was Outlaw's designer. Just a few years after designing this ride, he left
CCI and
formed Great Coasters International (GCI) in
1996. You can really see Mike's influence in the similarities
between Outlaw and several
GCI coasters such as
Roar,
Lightning Racer, and
Kentucky Rumbler.
Regrettably, CCI went out of business near the end of 2002. Denise Dinn-Larrick, who founded the company, went on to join S&S Sports to form a wooden coaster division for that company, while most of the other CCI designers rejoined and formed The Gravity Group, LLC. S&S only built four wood coasters, all of which opened in 2003 or 2004, while The Gravity Group has built over two dozen wood coasters and continues to this day to create fantastic new roller coasters and trains.
