This new park sits about 7 miles from the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. In 2012, the city of Foley proposed a partnership with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians to develop an entertainment destination in the area. It was decided that the city of Foley would own and operate the sports complex while the Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority would own and operate the retail, dining, and amusement park areas. From its opening in 2017 until 2021, the amusement park was called Park at OWA, pronounced "oh-wah," which means "big water" in the Muscogee Creek language. While some parts of the shopping area are still called OWA, the amusement park name changed to Tropic Falls when the indoor water park known as Tropic Falls Theme Park opened in 2022. The complex covers 520 acres, but not all of it has been developed. There are about 20 rides at the amusement park, although the majority of them are listed as "family-friendly" or "kid rides."
