Tobu Zoo Park

The Tobu Zoo Park (東武動物公園) is located in Saitama Prefecture and is about an hour's drive north of Tokyo. The combination of amusement park and zoo, which is often called a "hybrid leisure land," covers 60 hectares (150 acres). The zoo is home to about 120 species and over 1,000 animals. The symbol of the zoo is its white tiger, one of only about 200 in the world. The zoo and small amusement park are operated by the Tobu Leisure Planning Co., Ltd. The park opened in 1981 as a celebration of Tobu Railways' 80th anniversary.
