Kawasemi
I can't tell if this is a roller coaster enthusiast enjoying the ride all by himself, or if he is an employee checking out the coaster before letting guests ride it.
The metal fins on the sides of the cars are used by the magnetic brakes. These fins slip between strong magnets mounted at the end of the ride. They provide a smooth deceleration, require no maintenance, and are failsafe since they do not require any power to operate. There are no block brakes or trim brakes anywhere on the ride except at the end as trains approach the station.
