Do-Dodonpa
Fuji-Q Highland its just 16 kilometers (10 miles) north of the peak of Mt. Fuji. Known as 富士山, or Fujisan in Japanese, the mountain is the tallest in Japan with a height of 3,776 meters (12,389 feet). Because of its height, and the fact that there are no other mountains near it, it is extremely easy to spot. The mountain, which is technically an active volcano that last erupted about 300 years ago, is a cultural icon in Japan and can be found in countless paintings, pictures, icons and logos. In some summers, over a quarter million people will make the long hike to the top of the mountain. Unfortunately, when I visited the park, rain, fog, and low clouds prevented me from seeing the mountain even though it is located so close to these coasters.
