Do-Dodonpa

From its opening in December 2001 until October 2016, Dodonpa operated with this massive hill.  The hill was very similar to the one on Hypersonic XLC at Kings Dominion, but this one was nearly twice as wide when seen from the side.  This change in design was made to prolong the negative g-forces riders experienced as they crested the hill.

Cars would climb up the top of the left tower and descend down the right tower.  Two sets of brakes were mounted on the left side of the hill and were used in case a car lacked sufficient speed to crest the hill.  Other brakes near the station would be used to slow the car if it suffered a "roll-back" and was headed backward towards the launch area.
