Toverland sits in rural southern Netherlands. It opened in May 2001 and has expanded greatly since then. It
started as an indoor family entertainment center aimed at children when it opened with just the large "Land van Toos" indoor play area, and it grew with
the construction of the "Wunder Wald" building. The first outdoor ride opened in 2004. The park has expanded to more than 25 hectares and is presently
one of the largest amusement parks in this part of Europe. The indoor parts of the park are open throughout the entire year. The new outdoor areas of Toverland are:
Ithaka, an area themed to the ancient Greeks; the Magische Vallei, or Magical Valley fantasy land; the Avalon area based on Celtic mythology;
and the new Port Laguna area that uses a Mediterranean theme. The park is currently operated by the Gelissen Group, named after the park's creator Jean Gelissen.
Only one coaster has left Toverland: Wilde Maus was a Mack Rides
"Compact Mobile Wilde Maus" that was only at the park for one month in 2004. The ride traveled to a variety of parks before and after its time here.
One installation was as Wilde Maus at Germany's
Freizeit-Land Geiselwind park.
