The Dutch Duinrell amusement park sits in the woods close to the North Sea. It is a short drive away from
both The Hague and Rotterdam. The land has been owned by the Van Zuylen van Nijevelt family for several hundred years. Philip Jules
Count Van Zuylen van Nijevelt opened the land to the public in 1935, and he passed the park to his
sons Phillip and Roderick in 2000. Rides came to Duinrell in the 1960s, and the Tiki Pool water park opened in
1984. Rick the Frog is the park's mascot.
The park was home to Batflyer, a suspended single-rail coaster built by Caripro, a
small manufacturer that was based in The Netherlands. The ride was built in 1997, but technical problems prevented it from ever opening. It was ultimately demolished
five years later. Caripro went out of business around the same time.
