The Oriental Pearl Tower / 东方明珠塔 is in downtown Shanghai, China. Sitting in the Pudong District, it is across the Huangpu River from the Bund, the historical waterfront area that was a bustling center of financial and trading institutions from the 1860s until the 1930s. The Oriental Pearl Tower opened in 1995 and is 468 meters (1,536 feet) tall. The top of the tower is full of TV and radio antennas, but guests can go as high as the observation area at the 351 meter (1,152-foot) level. The tower is home to a small hotel, a revolving restaurant, shopping areas, a museum, an arcade, a glass-bottomed walkway, and one roller coaster.
