The decorations and the spraying whale are nice additions to the ride.
This area of the park was originally called Kiddies Kingdom, but was remade into Adventure Land and Storybook Land in the mid 1990s. The area was rethemed as CBeebies Land in 2014. The spot of land presently occupied by the Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure was formerly home to a small Pinfari "Big Apple / Wacky Worm" model coaster. That ride operated at Alton Towers from 1983 to 2012, but it moved twice during its tenure at the park. It first ran in the Festival Park section of the park and was called Mini Dragon from 1983 to 1986 and Dragon from 1987 to 1992. It was moved to the Thunder Valley section of the park and was called Beastie from 1993 to 2010. It kept the same name, but was moved to the Adventure Land portion of the park in 1998. The ride was Standing But Not Operating in 2011 and 2012, but was eventually removed and sold to a company that has taken the small kiddie coaster to a variety of local fairs and carnivals. I don't have any pictures of that old ride, but I have shots of other rides with the same "Big Apple / Wacky Worm" design: Big Apple, Counter Culture Caterpillar, Cosmic Coaster, Speedy Gonzalez, TL*3, Wacky Mouse, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, Wacky Worm, and Wacky Worm. (Yes, all of those Wacky Worm links go to different coasters. There are a ton of coasters with the same name!)
