Leviathan

Leviathan is a wonderful ride.  I think it is a fantastic coaster!

As of 2019, Leviathan is the 9th tallest coaster in the world.  The top 5 tallest coasters all use a hydraulic or electric launch system to catapult trains up to their maximum speeds.  Leviathan uses a chain to pull trains up the largest hill and lets the pull of gravity give the trains their speed.  Leviathan is currently the fourth tallest coaster in the world that uses a traditional lift hill at the beginning of the ride.  Here is a list of the five tallest coasters that use tall lift hills to convert potential energy into kinetic energy:

  1. 99 meters (325 feet) Fury 325 at Carowinds
  2. 97 meters (318 feet) Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima Spa Land
  3. 94.5 meters (310 feet) Millennium Force at Cedar Point
  4. 93.3 meters (306 feet) Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland (seen here)
  5. 93 meters (305 feet) Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion
