Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Between the two tall peaks, you can see two audio-animatronic birds. My favorite animated animal on the ride is the
goat who has a few sticks of dynamite in its mouth. The tallest rock peak on this mountain is slightly less than 200 feet tall. If it had
exceeded the 200-foot mark, FAA regulations
would have required a light on the top of the rocks. This is the only version of the four Big Thunder Mountain coasters with
an outdoor station. It has two parallel tracks running through the station so multiple trains can be loaded and unloaded simultaneously.
The trains make engine noises and sometimes loud steam whistles. These sound effects were added recently and actually come from speakers around the track, not from the trains themselves.
