Angus G. Wynne (1914-1979) and the Great Southwest Corporation developed Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Six Flags Over Mid America (now called Six Flags St. Louis) in the 1960s and early 1970s. This fake oil derrick honors his vision to create Texas' largest entertainment park.
