Cyclone designer Edward Vettel had an older brother Erwin who also designed a number of coasters. Erwin worked for Kennywood Park until his death in 1943. Erwin's son Andy Vettel took over his position and became famous for turning the Pippin into the Thunderbolt.

Cyclone and Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park are the only remaining Edward Vettel coasters still operating.
