Hypersonic XLC
Like the "Turbo Drop" and "Space Shot" towers built by S&S Sansei (formerly S&S Worldwide and S&S Power, Inc.), Hypersonic used tanks of compressed air. The "shot tanks" were positioned here under the launching area, while storage tanks were located within the 165-foot tower. An electric motor continuously powered an air compressor to provide a source of high-pressure air. The amount of air used to launch one train varied depending on the weight of the train and its riders as determined by strain gauges in the track.
