Cheetah Hunt

Although it was modified when the coaster was built, Cheetah Hunt's station is almost 35 years older than the roller coaster!  The building was originally the station for the Busch Gardens monorail.   Known by various names over the years such as Monorail, Veldt Monorail, Skyrail, and Monorail Safari, this 7,000-foot-long monorail operated from 1966 to 1999.  Its suspended and air-conditioned cars were originally built by Arrow Dynamics, but they were replaced in 1987 by six new trains built by Intamin.  The monorail took riders through the Serengeti Plain section of the park that was home to a variety of animals.  The monorail is no longer, but the African wildlife still occupies this 65-acre area.  Guests can see these free-roaming animals by either taking the Serengeti Express Train or by paying extra for a 30-minute ride in open-air touring vehicles to pass through the Serengeti Plain.
