Rolling Thunder
Rolling Thunder was built with 850,000 board-feet of Douglas fir wood. Over the decades, a lot of the fir was replaced with southern yellow pine lumber. The coaster's rails were constructed of seven layers of wood. During its later years, much of the track had its two top layers replaced with pine, and these new layers can be seen in this picture. It is a little hard to spot in this picture, as so much paint has peeled off the remnants, but the two top pine boards were not painted as they replaced the original wood.
