According to a sign located here, this lake is home to the Darien Lake Sharp. Discovered by biologist Houk Lynensinker in the 1950s, the Sharp is half shark and half carp. Sharp have a dark back, a glistening scaly tummy, and a huge shark-like dorsal fin. An adult Sharp can weigh 35 pounds and be up to four feet in length. They are typically bottom-feeders, but they occasionally come to the surface to eat food tossed into the lake by park guests.
After rereading the biologist's name, I question the truthfulness of this sign...
