Rougarou

A rougarou, sometimes spelled rugaroo, roux-ga-roux, or rugaru, is a mythical creature in French cultures that has transformed from a human into an animal.  The legend spread to French Louisiana and still persists in Cajun folklore.  The creature often has dog-like features like a werewolf.
