A very basic AC motor is used to power the lift. Its small pulley is connected to a larger pulley via a set of belts. The small-toothed gear in the middle of the large pulley further slows down the speed of the rotation. The end result is a large reduction from the RPMs of the motor to the RPMs of the chain lift gear. This also gives a mechanical advantage so that the small motor can lift a fully loaded train up the lift hill.
