In the previous picture, I was literally standing inside the track at the bottom of the first drop. In this picture, I was safely outside the the fence while taking a picture of the first drop!
It is incredibly important to stay on the appropriate side of the safety fences surrounding coasters. There have been a handful of park guests that have been struck and killed when they got into the restricted areas around a ride. In one of the latest coaster fatalities, a young man hopped over not one, but two fences in order to get under a coaster and retrieve a hat that he lost while on the ride. When the inverted coaster passed overhead, he was struck and killed by the legs of the riders. One rider suffered injuries and a broken leg.
