This is one of just a couple of roller coasters left in the United States that utilizes an electric spiral lift hill. Each car is equipped with a motor that is powered through an electrified rail mounted in the middle of the track. The motor in the middle of the car drives two wheels that grip a narrow strip mounted in between the yellow rails in order to propel the train up the helix lift.
Self-driven cars can be found on "Jet Star 2", "Jumbo Jet", and "City Jet" models. It is also on the last remaining custom "Speedracer" model, Wizzer at Six Flags Great America.
