Sea World

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Founded in 1958, this park was originally known as the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens.  It took the name Sea World in 1972 when  it added dolphins, marine displays and a swimming pool.  A decade later, it further expanded by purchasing a competitor marine park, Marineland.  Just one coaster has left the park: Wild Wave Rollercoaster, also called Thrillseeker, was an SDC Zyklon that ran from 1982 to 2002.

Two coasters have left the park:

  • Sea Viper, a three-inversion Arrow Dynamics, operated here from 1982 to 2014. It was called Corkscrew from its opening until the late 2000s. (See pictures below for details.)
  • Thillseeker operated from 1982 to 2002. It was a Zyklon or Galaxi model built by the Italian SDC company. After leaving the park, it traveled for several years.
