Scenic World
Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia

This location was the site of a coal mining operation from the 1800s until 1945 when the land was purchased by Harry Hammon and his sister Isobel Fahey.  The railway that was used to haul coal and oil shale out of the valley became a tourist attraction and was converted to passenger use when the mine closed.  Less than two hours west of Sydney by either rail or road, Katoomba's Scenic World now has a railway, skyway, cableway, walkway, and a unique roller coaster that was built two decades ago but has never opened to the public.
