Giant Dipper
By the 1980s, Giant Dipper had fallen into
disrepair. Due to its sorry condition and the damage caused by multiple
fires, the coaster was slated for demolition. A group called the "Save The
Coaster Committee" had the coaster designated as a National Historic Landmark.
However, they did not raise enough money to restore the coaster to operation.
By 1990, two million dollars was raised by the San Diego Coaster Company and was
used to bring the coaster back to life.
