Big Chief's Carts and Coasters was originally created by Jim Laskaris who ran the park until his death in 2003. The park was
a simple go-kart track in the 1970s, but it changed its name to Big Chief Karts & Coasters in 1995. The apostraphy and the spelling of "Karts" changed
in the name over the years. The Mt. Olympus park was formed in 2004 as part of a deal that merged Big Chief's, the Treasure Island Waterpark Resort, and
the Family Land Waterpark into a 150-acre
Greek-themed park. It presently has three dozen waterslides, two floating rivers, a wave pool, and several amazing go-cart tracks that
go underground, underwater, and even through buildings! The Parthenon, an indoor section with some smaller rides, opened in 2006 and an indoor water
park opened in 2022. The park is now owned and operated by Jim Laskaris' son, daughter, and their spouses. The park has expanded
to now cover over 200 acres.
