Here is how the ride looks like without the lapbars.  Since the "head banging" has been eliminated, the quality of the ride is greatly improved.

The metal fins on the sides of the cars are used to launch the train.  A single set of electro-magnets is straddling the fins on the third car to help propel the train into the station.  A large series of magnets, similar to the single set shown here, is used to launch the train out of the station.
