In 1998, Paramount Parks signed a deal with Vekoma which gave Paramount the exclusive rights to build these "Flying Dutchman" model coasters.  As part of the deal, Paramount agreed to build a "Flying" coaster each year at their various parks.  But after building just one, Paramount decided that they did not want any more.  This caused the agreement to be voided, so Vekoma built two "Flying" coasters for Six Flags in 2001.

In late 2001, Vekoma filed for bankruptcy protection.  After reorganizing, the company is back in business.
