Two simple scoops on each train create this wonderful effect. Anyone standing where these kids are will likely be soaked by the splash.
Dragging the water scoops through the water slows the trains slightly. It helps reduce the train's speed at the end of the ride, but it really is not necessary. The final brake run has enough stopping power to halt the trains even if this water area is empty. Because each splash occurs behind the riders, people on the train probably won't even see any of the water plumes. The primary reason for this effect is for the enjoyment of the bystanders watching the ride. On a hot day in Florida, it is common for large groups of people to hang out in this area just for the chance to get doused by the water being thrown in the air by the speeding trains.
